2008 Year in Review

Buck a year old black lab was found chained to a tree on Hwy 300. He was heartworm positive. He was neutered and treated for his heartworms. He is a beautiful full blooded lab and was just adopted locally this week.

Fletcher is a standard Daschund mix who was overlooked at LRAS for 3 months because he could climb out of his kennel. Although several people showed interest in adopting him no one took him home because they were afraid of him escaping from their yards. He is now living in a wonderful home in British columbia, and has never tried to escape from his home!

Naomi is a red heeler who rode to New York with Lisa Mantle and I when we made the drive taking 13 dogs to Roundoout Valley Animals for Adoption. Naomi is doing well in agility class and is adored by her new family. Every dog has their own story and it is so rewarding to hear from the new families. Check out the happy ending page for more stories.

This week 3 dogs flew to New York. I just spoke with Jane Kopelman of Rondout Valley Animals for Adoption, and she is thrilled with them. Jasper is a solid black border collie from LRAS, and Payton and Samson were both strays that had been taken in at Chenal Valley Vet Clinic. Teri Mitchell made the trip to Memphis with me and took some great pictures of the three. We have started a Snapfish album of the dogs going to our rescue partners and will also include them on the LCA website. Thanks again Teri!

Earlier this month 2 dogs were flown to Mosaic Rescue in BC. Watch for pictures of Willow and Izzy on the happy endings page. Olive, a JRT was pulled for Mosaic earlier this month. She is being fostered now and is undergoing heartworm treatment. We have another small dog at LRAS now that will be pulled as soon as a foster is found.

Please continue to spread the word about the need for foster families! If you have ideas for improvement or areas where you would like to volunteer, please let me know. Thanks again to everyone for making 2008 another great year for rescue. hopefully with more volunteers and foster families, 2009 will be even better!
