What is Last Chance Arkansas's Stance on Euthanasia?
Little Rock Animal Services receives over 400 animals each month. LRAS accepts all animals
regardless of the reason for surrender; they must take all animals surrendered or on the streets of Little Rock.
No-kill shelters do not accept all animals and this is how they are able to be a "no-kill" shelter. They would
be forced to euthanize because of the volume of animals.
Shelters across the country intake 6-8 million animals each year. There are simply not enough homes or rescues to save everyone.
Last Chance Arkansas believes that every animal deserves a high quality of life. Living in cages without contact,
exercise and socialization is not acceptable.
Euthanasia is not the solution to the overpopuluation problem - but is neccessary.
Sterilization and education are the only answers to the overpopulation problem in Little Rock (and the World).
Until all dogs and cats are sterilized and the numbers of homeless animals are significantly
reduced, Last Chance Arkansas will support LRAS and LRAS's need to euthanize.
