Mission Statement
Last Chance Arkansas is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all volunteer, organization whose
primary mission is to help reduce the number of homeless companion animals in the
Little Rock Animal Services shelter and to assist in the care of the animals that
are in the shelter.
To acheive these goals we:
Photograph the animals in the shelter and posting their pictures on our website
to help promote adoptions and to reunite lost pets with their owners.

Work with out-of-state resuce organizations that are willing to take LRAS' dogs into their programs and place them into loving homes.
Facilitate out-of-state adoptions of LRAS' animals.
Aggressively promote spaying or neutering of all companion animals to help reduce
the number of stray, abandoned and neglected animals that would otherwise have to be taken in by LRAS.
Promote volunteerism by recruiting volunteers to help care for the animals at LRAS and to assist at special events.
Core Values

We believe that our first and foremost responsibility is to the animals and that
we can best help the animals by working in a cooperative, positive and forthright
manner with Little Rock Animal Services and by serving as an ambassador between
Little Rock Animal Services and the community.

We believe that
every adopted or rescued animal
must
be spayed or neutered before being placed into an adoptive home or leaving our custody.
We believe that the
only exception to this policy should be when a veterinarian determines that the animal
is too sick, too old, to ever be able to survive the spay or neuter surgery, and
then only if the animal is adopted by a responsible person who will not, under any
circumstances, allow the animal to reproduce.
We believe that it is our responsibility to ensure that every dog we rescue is as
healthy as possible before we send them to other communities. Therefore, we will
keep all dogs in our foster care for at least 14 days after pulling them from the
shelter before transporting them out-of-state. We will ensure that every dog receives
quality veterinary care, and is properly vaccinated, before being transferred to
another recue or to an adopter.
We believe that it is our responsibility to ensure that we are not endangering dogs,
or putting them into bad situations. Therefore, we will thoroughly evaluate
every potential adopter and rescue group that wants to adopt or rescue a dog from
Little Rock Animal Services before we agree to assist them with the adoption or rescue.
We believe that dogs that exhibit aggressive tendencies, either towards people or
other animals, are not the best candidates for rescue or adoption into homes.
Although we recognize that there are many reasons a dog might act in an aggressive
manner, there are simply more dogs needing homes than we can possibly save so we feel
it is best to put our limited resources to use rescuing dogs that don’t exhibit questionable temperament.
